What 040 Is Built For
The 040 is a general-purpose straight-cutter Router Plane for controlled depth work. Use it for dados, grooves, and tenon cheeks after most waste has already been removed.
Larger Outward-Angled Handles
The 040 uses larger wooden handles in an outward-angled layout. This configuration provides more room between the hands than the compact 003 configuration.
Straight-Cutter System
The 040 uses the Cowryman straight-cutter system. The complete Router Plane includes one 8 mm HSS straight cutter. Replacement 3 mm, 5 mm, and 6 mm straight cutters, plus a 3 mm and 6 mm cutter set, are available separately. The 040 does not use the 042 L-shaped cutter system.
